Bob Dylan, Wilco, and My Morning Jacket are coming to Merriweather Post Pavilion on Tuesday, 23 July, and ShowlistDC is giving away a pair of lawn seats– before they go on sale to the public! All you have to do to enter is leave a comment on this post telling me which of these three great bands you’re most excited to see, and I’ll pick the winners at random (using random.org) on Thursday, 2 May at midnight Eastern. Be sure to use a valid email address when you enter, so I can contact you if you win (and don’t worry: your email address won’t be posted publicly when you comment on this entry and won’t be added to any sort of mailing list). If you’re a hotmail user, please add showlistdc@gmail.com to your address book or no-spam list, as other hotmail users have had problems with emails from us not getting through. Also note that we ask winners to respond within 24 hours, or else we have to pick another winner, so make sure to check your email regularly! Tickets go on sale on Friday, 3 May at 10 AM, so we’ll be sure to let the winner know before then!
These bands almost need no introduction at all. Bob Dylan (who will be performing with a band at this show) released his first album, Bob Dylan in 1962, and he’s been steadily releasing albums all the way up to last year’s Tempest (that’s his 35th studio album, for those keeping track at home). Chicago’s Wilco formed from the ashes of alt-country band Uncle Tupelo in 1994; its most famous album is probably 2002′s Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, which Wilco streamed for months on its web site before releasing it officially on Nonesuch (the album was rejected by Wilco’s previous label, Reprise Records, who then dropped the band but gave it the rights to the album). Their most recent album is 2011′s The Whole Love, and we’ve included a video from their song “Born Alone” from that album below. My Morning Jacket is a psychedelic rock band that formed in Louisville, Kentucky, in 1998 and has been steadily releasing albums ever since; its most recent is 2011′s Circuital. It looks like you can stream all of MMJ’s albums on their web site; just click on the album’s cover and then hit “Play” next to any song.

The contest has ended and the winner has been notified!
Dylan!
RIP George Jones. Not related, but relevant.
Wow, do I have to pick just one?
I’ll say MMJ, based on their stellar show last year at MPP.
This show sounds fantastic! All are great, I just hope the show starts at 3 PM, so all get to play good sets.
Excited to see Dylan, he’s the only one I haven’t seen of the 3. I hope Wilco and MMJ join him on stage for a few tunes.
Bob Dylan of course. Half the times I’ve seen him he is horrible, but I always come back.
Such a toughie, but I’m going with MMJ! I saw them a few years ago at Bonnaroo and they put on a fantastic show!
mmj
Excited to see MMJ perform “One Big Holiday.”
the Wilcos.
Hope to see Dylan before one of us dies.
Wilco, saw Dylan and his band recently and they were great, but haven’t seen Wilco in years!
Definitely My Morning Jacket. love them
Gotta be MMJ. Can’t wait to hear ‘em on a summer evening.
So excited for the change to see Dylan!
Dylan. With Wilco close behind.
My Morning Jacket!
WILCO!
Wilco!
dylan dylan dylan
MMJ!
Def MMJ, with Wilco as a close second. Wish Bobby could still sing, but I fear his set might be a bathroom/beer break.
Wilco!
MY MORNING JACKET!!!
Bob Dylan because I haven’t seen him perform; Wilco because they’re always great; and My Morning Jacket because it’s been a long time! So: I’m most excited to see Wilco!
Excited to finally see the legendary Bob Dylan!
Congratulations – you’re the random winner! Check your email for more information!
Tough call but I guess I’ll go with MMJ although it’s really a three way tie
MMJ for sure. Dylan is a bucket list artist though.
Roger wilco
This will be a great show!
Though Bob has been a life long musical companion, I have to say MMJ. Jim on stage is pure joy.
wilco, cause wilco
BOB DYLAN
Wilco, please. Why? They give me a warm feeling. An imagined kindred spiritedness? Same agedness? Chicagoness? Spiders.
Dylan, of course. But I have also never seen MMJ.
Dylan plz
Athough I’m a big fan of Wilco and MMJ, I’m going to have to say Bob Dylan, an artist who has effectively altered the musical landscape and narrative of American music. Just look at his record. ;) I would attend hoping he sings “With God on Our Side,” a song we should all give listen…I hope he reminds us one more time.
Mr. Bob M.M.J. Wilco
(OK, Wilco, if only one.)
Bob Dylan! But the others are great too.
I’m going with MMJ
Wilco! Wilco 4life.
wilco
Wilco and Dylan!!!
I would love to see wilco!
Wilco!
Dylan, no questions asked.
Although still stoked to see Wilco and MMJ!
Bob Dylan!
Bob Dylan. No contest.
Dylan for the legacy value, and Wilco for the music.
Bob. The Neverending Tour will have to end some day so I want to catch it while I can.
I’m super stoked about Wilco being here again! I missed him last year!
My Morning Jacket!!
Bob Dylan. Poetry and music.
I saw MMJ open for Wilco in 2005, so I’m excited to see them together again. But Bob Dylan is going to be there too, so that makes it even better. So Bob Dylan gets my vote. What a spectacular bill!
Dylan has to get my vote, although MMJ is one of the best live acts out there today
Never seen Dylan, so definitely most excited for him.
Excited for MMJ!
Hmmm…. just one? Ok, Dylan. But Wilco would be a close second.
my morning jacket!
All of them, but MMJ is the only one I haven’t seen before, so I’ll go with that.
(I did find Heavy Metal Drummer running randomly through my head a few days before the show announcement though.)
Dylan!
My Morning Jacket!
MMJ woot woot! But Dylan with Dawes backing is not far behind.
Bobby Dylan…
Wilco, but all are exciting!!!
Bob Dylan, but I would be super excited to see them all.
Dylan!
Bob dylan
Most excited to see Dylan – the one and only time I saw him was in ’86, with the Dead & Tom Petty. It was 95 degrees, and none of those guys were at their best. I’d like to give him another chance.
Huge dylan fan here!
